Description of contents in the Roberta Fay Carpenter folder:
Obituary For Roberta Larsen:
This is the obituary for Roberta Fay Carpenter Larsen as written by Lori Larsen Weintz.
Accounts_of_Passing_and_Cremation_by_Lori:
Lori Larsen Weintz wrote about the day Roberta passed and the day Roberta was cremated. There are also pictures taken at the cremation.
Carpenter_Girls_Stories:
In Feb 2007 Casey and Roberta started writing down some of the stories they remembered. They didn't capture a lot.
Casey's_Cassette_Tapes:
In 2011 Lori Larsen Weintz gave a list of questions along with cassette recorders to Roberta and Casey. Roberta never took to the
project, but Casey made a good effort. Casey recorded on a C90 and a C60. In Dec 2019 John Larsen converted the cassette tapes
to mp3 files on the computer. He then transcribed the tapes as best he could. This folder has the mp3 files and the transcription
made. Times are noted throughout the transcription so it should be easy to find the place in the recordings. No correction pass
was made on the transcription so there are certainly some errors in there.
Collier_Family_History_Pictures:
John Larsen has a backup of the contents of Roberta's computer. He found this folder of Collier Family pictures in the backup.
Index pages were made. Fortunately many of the files have descriptive names.
Funeral_Slideshow:
This slideshow was prepared for display at the funeral. John Larsen went through all of his pictures getting all those that have to
do with Roberta. Many other people contributed to the collection of over 600 pictures. A slideshow was made of the pictures. It is
available in four formats. In this folder are a Windows program "Roberta_Larsen_Funeral_Slideshow.exe" and a Windows screen saver
"Roberta_Larsen_Funeral_Slideshow.scr". The filename of the picture being displayed is in the
upper left corner. Using that filename you can get to the original image using the next two links.
Funeral_Slideshow-Full_size_images:
This link goes to a thumbnail page of all the pictures. Clicking on the thumbnail gets to the full sized image. I tried to put the name of
contributor in the filename. If there is no contributor name then it probably came from John's collection of photos.
Funeral_Slideshow-resized_1280:
Before creating the slideshow all the images were resized so that the long edge was 1280 pixels. This link goes to a thumbnail page
of the resized images. Clicking on the thumbnail gets you to the resized image.
Homage_Video_made_By_Doug:
On the day Roberta passed Doug Larsen made a short video to honor her. He posted this to youtube. He used audio from a song
that Roberta had sung, "Baby Your Mother", and stitched together a series of still images. It is really nice.
Life_stories_told_by_Mom_and_Casey_to_Lori:
Around February 2011 Lori asked Roberta and Casey to tell her stories they remember from when they were
young. Lori just typed as they talked. This document is what she captured from those conversations.
Misc_Files_From_Roberta's_Computer:
As mentioned above, John Larsen has a backup of all the files on Roberta's computer. He went through all those files and
selected ones that might be of interest. Roberta used WordPerfect as her word processing program. John was able to
convert those files into Microsoft Word format and then saved them also in PDF format. All three versions of the files
are available. You should be able to open the PDF version right from the browser. The WordPerfect "wpd" documents
give the timestamp of when the file was last saved.
Roberta_Larsen_and_Casey_Nebeker_-_Songs_For_Our_Children:
In August 2007 Roberta Larsen and Casey Nebeker (daughters of Charles Felix and Hannah May Carpenter) recorded the songs
that they used to sing to their children as they were growing up. Jeri Nebeker Brimhall took the recordings and made a CD
of the songs. In June 2010 John Larsen ripped the CD into mp3 files and has made them available here.
Roberta's_Journal-1981_to_2017:
Roberta kept a "Letter of the Law" journal on wall calendars. She would write notes about what she did each day.
She had calendars starting in 1981. In 1999 she started entering all those calendars into the computer using
WordPerfect. John Larsen converted all those WordPerfect documents into Microsoft Word and then into PDF. All
three versions of the files are available. You should be able to open the PDF version right from the browser. There
were older versions of the journals that were huge and covered several years. At one point Jeri Brimhall helped
Roberta by splitting the files up into more manageable sizes. Everything was kind of a mess. Rather than delete
or omit anything John decided to organize it the best he could. You'll find everything here.
Slideshow_by_Alex:
Grandson Alex Larsen created a slideshow to music. He shared that with John Larsen and it is in this folder.
The original files were converted to mp4 files which are smaller. The originals are in a subfolder.
Small_portraits_of_Roberta:
John Larsen went through all the pictures looking for some recent pictures of Roberta that could be used on the
funeral home website for the obituary. This folder has all the cropped images that he found.
Videos_by_Gwen:
Gwendolyn Larsen made two videos of Roberta in 2016, one in Roberta's home and
one on the temple grounds. Several more videos were made in 2018 when Roberta
was in Pacifica assisted living. Roberta shares her testimony in one of them.
The original videos were in full HD format. John Larsen converted the *.mov
files into *.mp4 files that are much smaller. The originals are in a
subfolder.
Videos_by_Lori:
Lori Weintz recorded Roberta reading from a book. Those videos are in this folder.
