IF upgrading from the earlier v3.8 program, ONLY the
"a_errlog.pl", "a_dolink.pl", and "logcnt.cgi" files 
need replacing PLUS the old "-.gif" has been replaced 
by "c.gif" for the few users of paranoid Hosts only 
accessed via control panels and not allowing the 
uploading of non-text filenames...
- nothing else affected. (this is still v3.8 and does 
not warrant a new version reference)

** next upgrade will include the addition of several
"virtual" SSI scripts simplifying the display of 
counted-links hyperlinks for those servers supporting
"virtual" SSI calls (the current "exec" calls by 
creating different script names are very tedious when 
displaying many links). PLUS webmasters count blocking.

Because of the large support for LogCount a low cost 
registered version will be available if you continue 
to use LogCount. Significant changes to the LogLook 
log viewer, PLUS TWO versions of the counter?? and 
more utility scripts make the enhancements worth
considering (Log management of 10+Meg with limit 
of 18 MONTH daily logs are possible). Expected cost 
is below US$30.

#The error logging has been improved plus a bug fix#

If the error log grows beyond 2000000 bits it will 
be renamed to ".badlog.last" (overwriting a previous
.badlog.last file) and a new log started. Previously
the logging just stopped at that size waiting for you 
to copy/delete it. Now you also have a chance to view
the previous error log (.last) while a new error log 
continues, and neither needs deleting.

IF using LogCount to count downloads etc, the simple 
error notice is clearer telling users what probably 
caused it to happen. (if the "bad referrer" was from
a counter tag call then the program simply returns a 
transparent image).

The time delay function was fixed (sometimes resulted
in a server error). Each error creating address is
recorded and if repeated within a certain time will 
not be added to the badlog log. (Old address ID files 
are deleted if older than the time delay max in seconds 
- when the next error comes through).

As previous the referrer string is truncated to a max 
100 chars. This and the time delay above help reduce 
the impact of idiots spamming the program many times 
in a short time with very long referrer strings to 
fill the error log (hackers can do it with the right 
software). 100 was chosen so as to still record the 
long bad referrer URL strings created by some site 
copying programs. Now worst is the log just gets duped 
and refreshed - and it takes a long time to do it.
