ALI DiscVIEW 3.0 INTRODUCTION: ALI DiscVIEW is a separately purchased option available to licensed users of ALI UtraPACS or ALI UltraPACS GX. ALI DiscVIEW 3.0 allows you to view DICOM images that have been exported from an ALI UltraPACS work station. Using DiscVIEW, you can take images with you to a different location. Important Note: It is recommended that you close all other applications before using ALI DiscVIEW. WARNING: ALI DiscVIEW 3.0 is not intended for diagnostic purposes. GETTING STARTED: On most machines, DiscVIEW will start automatically when the CD is inserted. If DiscVIEW does not start automatically, double-click Explorer or my Computer, double-click the CD-ROM drive, and (if necessary) double-click the autorun.bat file. To launch DiscVIEW: 1. Double-click Explorer or My Computer icon on your desktop. 2. Double-click the CD-ROM drive. 3. Double-click the autorun.bat file. BASIC INSTRUCTIONS: To obtain study list: 1. Click In-Box icon on the Feature bar. To open a study from the study list: 1. Double-click on the study you want in the list. To view images in a stack: 1. Click on the stack. 2. With the mouse wheel, or arrow keys, scroll through the images. To adjust window level: 1. Right-click the mouse. 2. Holding down the right mouse button, move the mouse. To access the shortcut (or right-click) menu: 1. Place mouse cursor over the images or stack to be manipulated. 2. Right-click and release. 3. Select one of right-click menu options by clicking with the left mouse button. ICONS: For a detailed description of the icons appearing in DiscVIEW, please refer to the icon card. To access the DiscVIEW icon card: 1. Minimize the DiscVIEW application. 2. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop. 3. Right-click your CD drive, select open and then double-click the AliDiskViewHelp.bmp file. FEATURES NOT SUPPORTED IN ALI DISCVIEW 3.0: The Folder Finder feature is not supported. The Diagnosis feature is not supported. The Save feature is not supported. The Edit Report and Find Report features are not supported. The Mark Study as Reported feature is not supported. The Print feature is not supported. The Send feature is not supported. The 3D Viewing tool is not supported. The Automatically Open Next Study feature from the In-Box feature is not supported. Previously annotated or flagged images will not show the annotations and/or flags. Important Note: While DiscVIEW enables the use of the Annotation tool, it will not save new annotations. OPERATING SYSTEMS SUPPORTED: Microsoft Windows 98 (2nd edition), Windows ME, Windows NT (service pack 6a), or Windows 2000 (service pack 2). ALI DiscVIEW is designed to run on the Microsoft Windows Operating System family and will not run on the Apple Mac Operating System. You will need a different third party application in order to view the images contained on this CD with an Apple Mac computer. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Pentium III 500 Mhz processor 128 MB of RAM 1024x 768 x24 bit or better resolution minimum of 2 GB free disk space CD drive with 40x speed, capable of reading CD-RW and CD-R disks Wheel mouse (recommended but not essential) USING THE DISK EXPORT TOOL IN ULTRAPACS GX AND IMAGE VIEWER: For additional information on using the disk export tool, please refer to the UltraPACS GX and Image Viewer User's Guides. TROUBLESHOOTING: If you experience performance issues, check that sufficient Virtual Memory (swap space) is available. We recommend a minimum of 500 MB of Virtual Memory although you may need as much as 2 GB when viewing exceptionally large studies. Determining the amount of virtual memory (swap space) on your computer is dependent on your operating system. To determine your computer's operating system and edition or service pack: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Properties. 2. Select the General tab and view details. For Windows 2000 or Windows NT operating systems: To find out how much virtual memory (swap space) your computer has: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop. 2. For Windows 2000, click the Advanced tab and view details. 3. For Windows NT, click the Performance tab and view details. The process for determining the amount of virtual memory (swap space) on your computer, with a Windows 98 or Windows ME operating system, involves some additional steps. For Windows 98 or Windows ME operating systems: To find out how much virtual memory (swap space) your computer has: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Explore. 2. Right-click the C: drive or other if the C: drive is not your default drive. 3. Select Properties. 4. The amount of swap space available is equivalent to the free space. If you have adequate virtual memory but are still experiencing performance issues or other problems,it may be necessary to resintstal your operating system. If you are having difficulty reading your CD-ROM, you may need to slow the speed of your CD drive. For Windows 98 or Windows ME operating system: To slow the speed of your CD drive: 1. From the Start menu, select Settings, and then Control Panel. 2. Click System, Performance, File System and then CD-ROM. 3. From the CD-ROM set Optimize Access Pattern to No Read-Ahead.
