Notes:
Obiturary for Viola Yvonne Larsen
Yvonne Bonnie Steele died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. She never did like a Cache Valley winter and this was her way of skipping it at last. She leaves behind a loving family and friends, but we know we will see her again. Now she's with Dad and he'll have to cut back on his golf games in Heaven. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Brent) Daugherty, of Hyde Park, Utah; a son, Greg (Colleen) Steele, of Reno, Nev.; sisters, Barbara Baldauf and Shirly (Hilton) Mose; and a brother, Raymond (Kirma) Larsen; along with grandkids: Jeff, Jason, Nikole, Kristina, KC and Michelle, and their families. Her husband Gordon and son Scott, as well as her parents and her three oldest brothers, are waiting for her with our Heavenly Father.
Viola Yvonne Larsen was born in Brigham City, Utah, the third of seven children, to Merlin R. and Judith V. Larsen. She was always proud to be from Box Elder and we liked to tease her about being a Peach Queen. Mom and Dad met at the LDS Business College and were married in 1942. Following the war, they decided to stay in Logan where Dad had been stationed. Mom ended up working for over 30 years for the State of Utah in the Department of Employment Security which later became Job Service. Along the way there were three kids: Kathleen, Greg and Scott. In her spare time, Mom did a little bowling, played a little golf, loved to dance, served in the temple for at least 20 years, and always enjoyed her friends, whether it was playing bridge, walking in the morning or just talking.
The family would like to thank the kind folks at Alpine Homecare and Hospice, as well as all of the wonderful neighbors in the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward area, and of course all of Mom's friends. Some have already gone on ahead and she'll be waiting for the rest.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at the LDS chapel at 1260 N. 1600 East in Logan. A viewing will be held that morning at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will also be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, in Logan. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
