George Walter
Broschinsky
1937 ~ 2018
George Walter Broschinsky, 80, passed away January 17, 2018, at his home in
Murray, Utah. George was born on December 6, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah
to Karma Knowlton and Walter Rodney Broschinsky. He was the oldest of five
children. He attended Davis High School, but left to attend the University
of Utah when he was just 16. George graduated from the "U" with a
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. He met the love of his life, Myrna
Christiansen, while they were both working at Lagoon. George served a
mission for the LDS Church in France and Belgium, from 1958 to 1961. George
and Myrna were married in the Logan Temple on August 11, 1961. George
served in the Army and was trombonist in the Army Band. He later served in
the Air Force from which he was honorably discharged. George taught
Seminary in Price, Utah. He later worked for the Foreign Study League,
moving his young family to Murray, Utah, and then to Paris, France. In
1975, George was called as Mission President of the newly created France
Toulouse Mission. He and Myrna loved France, the French people, the
language and the missionaries with all their hearts. Returning from his
mission, George sold insurance, taught insurance classes, and finally
taught writing and French classes for Continuing Education and Senior
Centers. He was a gifted and inspired teacher. George was a devoted member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to read,
write, plan, and tell stories and jokes. He was a talented trombone player
and loved music.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Myrna, and his parents. Survived by
his children: Michael (Korral), Wendy (Dwight) DeMann, David (Jennifer),
Steven (Jennifer), Mark (Hannah), and Karen (Manden) McBride; 16
grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson; also survived by brothers: Charles
(Stephanie), Dan (Susan), and Tom (Wendy); sister, Betty (Gordon) Olsen;
brother-in-law, Ray (Bobbie) Christiansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at
the Murray Utah Little Cottonwood Stake center, 6180 S. Glenoaks where
friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. There will also be
a viewing on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins- Soffe
Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah. Interment: Murray City
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the LDS Church
Missionary Fund or your local school music program.
