In January or February 1999 our sceptic system died. Fortunately, the city
had run sewer down our street in the early 80s. We connected to city sewer.
In the process of connecting us up Hamm Sceptic had to dig a trench from
the back of our house to the front of our house in order to run the sewer
line. After they filled in the trench with new concrete we captured the
day by pressing our hands into the concrete before it dried. For all these
years it has been mostly covered up by some area rugs. The new bathroom
that Chris Weintz is building for us in the basement will be built near
the spot where the hand prints are located. I took several pictures of
the handprints with different lighting trying to capture them. From left
to right the handprints go John, Joyce, Heather (16), Bradford (13),
Stanford (10), Phillip (7), and Julia (2.5). |
