Phillip was set apart as a full time missionary today by Jay Cooprider,
President of the Nashua New Hampshire Stake. Phillip also gave his
farewell talk in Sacrament Meeting this afternoon. Phillip had also
been asked several weeks ago to perform a special musical number in
the meeting. John wrote a clarinet descantes for the hymn "Take Time
to be Holy." Heather was the accompanist for the hymn. Phillip did
a solo for the first verse. Joyce joined in with the alto part for the
second verse. John did the clarinet descantes and Heather accompanied.
Then Rachel sang soprano, Phillip tenor, Joyce and Julia alto for verse
three while John played the descantes again. Verse four was four part
harmony with John singing bass. After the meeting block we went to the high council room and President Cooprider answered Phillip's questions and then set him apart. The pictures below show Phillip opening some presents. Rachel's family sent over a nice present with a cool looking lock box in it filled with pre-stamped envelopes and notebooks. Pictures at the bottom are in the high council room where Rachel was able to give Phillip one last hug before he was set apart. The last picture shows President Cooprider to the left near the door while Joyce looks up at Phillip just after giving him a hug. A copy of the sacrament meeting program and a PDF of the hymn we performed is at the end. |
