2012 05 12 - Removing the pine tree

HOME
Many years ago one of our children, I think it was Heather, brought home a seedling pine tree. The seedling came in a small paper tube and the intent was that it be planted somewhere in the yard. This has happened before, but the seedlings always died. We always planted the seedling somewhere, but they always died. This particular seedling was planted in a plastic pot and somehow it survived. It was "in the way" wherever it was and so it was put at the end of the garden bed "for now". Well, it actually survived and started growing. It grew and grew and broke through the bottom of the pot and just kept on growing. Over the years it got quite tall. It was a perfect Christmas Tree shape until Oct 2011 when that heavy snow storm hit and knocked down branches. It was damaged at that time and the top was broken off. Then in the spring of 2012 Heather's friend, JoAnna, asked if she and Heather could use one of our garden beds. We said yes, of course. The pine tree was simply in the way. So, today I sadly took it down. Below are pictures of the event.
