The "Great Gobbler" is a 5K race that has been going on for about 15
years. I had never heard of it before this year since I'm not a runner.
From what I understand, the organizer of the race was a track coach at
Nashua High School. This is a fund raiser for the two Nashua high
schools. Up until last year they used to hire an outside company to
do all the setup and sound. The current organizer thought they could do
it all on their own so that more of the money raised could go to the
schools. The Hawkins family in our ward has a son on the track team and
they are active supporters. Knowing that I have played in bands they
contacted me wondering if I knew somewhere to get big speakers. After
a bunch of back-and-forth emails I told them I had my own sound system
and would be willing to set it up for this event. That is what happened
Thanksgiving morning. I got there at 6:30 AM and set everything up.
It was a big success. There was supposed to be another wireless speaker
setup over at the starting line across the parking lot, but that sound
system didn't work. So, we cranked mine up louder and it was used to
start the race as well. I used my music mix of all the songs we used
to play in the band. There were lots of compliments on the music mix
and quality of the sound. I'm glad I could help. |
