Day 93: The continuous ridge vent was installed today. That completes the roof!
Tomorrow the current basement stairs will be ripped out and new ones built. We
will need to get into the basement using the bulkhead stairs for a couple of days.
In preparation I set up a tarp. My first attempt failed because the tarp ripped
when I did a water test. I used a smaller tarp anchored to the house just under
the roof and then used ropes tied to trees to stretch it out. It passed the water
test, but revealed the need for a trench to direct the water away from the house.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow! Yesterday I didn't know that the ridge vent would be installed today. I had removed the two time lapse cameras bringing them inside the house getting ready for the basement stair job. I put the north camera back on the tree when I knew about the ridge vent. I also recorded with a cell phone camera on a tripod. That video has all been combined into one time lapse video for the day. |
